#2 Camping (in back yard)
It doesn’t have to be in the back yard, if you have a car you may be able to get out of town for a few days and enjoy a fully fledged trip including camping, cooking, hikes, kayaking, outdoor fires and so forth. But as soon as you enter that realm the costs start to mount up (even camping can be expensive sometimes).
But if you choose to do it in the backyard you can be sure that the kids will remember it. Obviously choose a nice weather night, and be careful if you have cats (they have a habit of ripping the lining with their claws.
Here is a great resource for camping in your backyard. With ideas like tent games and a camping journal.

If you are lucky enough to have a fire-pit, then maybe you can even do the next one….
