I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and have read the series at least twice–I’m also one of those annoying people that point out the differences when I watch the movies (aka continuity errors, I’m not along Samuel L Jackson is the same). When I heard that the author J.K Rowling was releasing a new book, I knew that I had to pick it up to see what the fuss was about.
You can now pick it up at a huge discount for a limited time at Indigo; get 45% off this new title. It’s kind of a loss leader for them to hopefully snag a few new loyal customers. But it’s something we, as book lovers can take advantage of.

If you’re expecting another book along the same fantasy themes as Harry Potter, then you’re in for a great disappointment. It’s an adult fiction book and is a complete 180 degrees from her ground-breaking series; whereas the world of wizardry was filled with hope and you rooted for the characters, in her new book it’s all about despair and bad piled on to heaps of worse. It’s dark, gritty and some have even said dull; but I have yet to read it, so I can’t judge.
I picked up the book on discount so I will be giving it a read in the next few weeks, but I think my main concern is that no matter what I do, I will always be looking for the same theme and style that she brought out in Harry Potter; I don’t think I’ll be the only one either, she may have been type cast as a wizardry writer.
