Tablets Gifts Ideas and Tips
New tablets models are released every week, so it can be hard to follow up with the latest hits. And because they all seem to have the same options and only a few differences in the display, choosing one can be quite complicated. So, I did my tablet home work and read countless reviews to be a semi expert in the genre. I subsequently came up with the top 4 most recommended tablets.
The Top 4 Most Recommended Tablets

Apple iPad 2 16GB, $519.99 at Apple Store, Buy it Now
The iPad is ‘the tablet’ to get, especially if you already own other Apple products such as an iPhone or Macbook as they all sync together. It offers the most apps and is the easiest one to use. Just like any other Mac devices though, it won’t work with Adobe Flash which means that you won’t be able to access a few websites, also if you like to stream movies online through your browser then the number of video content websites and mvoies/tv shows will be drastically reduced.

Lenovo Thinkpad 16GB, $499.99 at Lenovo.com, Buy it Now
If you’re a Mac hater or you don’t have any Apple devices, then this is the tablet to get. It has four physical keys in addition to the virtual ones which are quite helpful. It also has a USB port and a spot for SD cards which comes in handy.

Toshiba 10.1″ 16GB, $369.99 at Futureshop.ca, Buy it Now
The Toshiba tablet is a bit heavier than its competitors because it has a built-in thick protective case. It offers the same ports as the Lenovo one, an exchangeable battery and a wide selection of accessories. This is a good tablet at a good price.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1″ 16GB, $499.99 at Thesource.ca, Buy it Now
This one can also be another good option because it is fast, reliable and light. It is also available in a 8.9 inch version, if you want to have a smaller tablet. But for the same kind of price I would rather go with the Lenovo one. But looks wise it is super similar to the apple iPad.
Not So Recommended Tablet

Blackberry 32GB Playbook, $200 – $399.99 at Thesource.ca, Buy it Now
I’ve talked about the Blackberry Playbook before because they are currently running massive sales and you could get it for a lot cheaper than other tablets. But after reading a few reviews about it, I’m not sure that I would consider buying it. It’s a good product for sure and you could have fun with it, but it’s not as good as the other tablets currently available. So you might want to reconsider your purchase and pay a little extra for something that will last you longer. The machine is super powerful and fast, but the screen is small, the operating system needs work and there are very few apps to choose from, there is also no 3G capability yet.
The Must-Have Tablets Accessories
If you’re buying a gift for someone who already owns a tablet, you might want to check for some accessories for its tablet. Here are a few accessories that can make nice add-on to your gift as the chances are big that the person will need to buy some anyway. I’ve only put the ones available for the iPad as it is the most popular tablet, but most of these accessories should be available for any tablet.
The Essentials

iPad Smart Cover, $45.99 at the Apple Store, Buy it Now
This is the first tablet accessory that you need to have especially if you plan on carrying your tablet everywhere with you, which is basically the point of having a tablet right? Try to look for a cover model that can also be used as a stand for the tablet, you’ll end up loving it.

iPad 2 Dock, $35.00 at the Apple Store, Buy it Now
This accessory is useful when you’re using the tablet at home. It charges and sync’s your iPad and it also supports your speaker cables if you want to listen to music. Its position makes it easy to use it just like a computer.
Funky

In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic, $89.00 at the Apple Store, Buy it Now
These are not normal headphones, they have a remote for volume changing (amongst other things), a mic and can be used on the iPad device or other Apple devices.

Griffin Crayola Colorstudio HD for iPad, $34.99 at Futureshop.ca, Buy it Now
If there are kids in the house, then this really is a nice add-on. Download the Crayola app for iPad and buy the Griffin Crayola Colorstudio pen that should feel like a real pen for kids to use. The application allows the user to interact with animated colouring book pages, that combine sound, special effects as well as touch interaction. Now that sounds like a lot of fun, even for me.
